Student Tracking and Reporting  (STAR)

What is a Student Tracking System?

A computerized program, that allows teachers and aids to identify their best students.

Why do good and well behaved students need to be identified?

A good classroom begins with recognition of their behavior.  To have well behaved students in the classroom is the basis for a strong teaching atmosphere.  All students should be recognized.... welcomed.... and to know that their good behavior is really appreciated.  Students will know a strong feeling, that when they come into a controlled area for the teacher to teach in, their reward will be a better education.  Recognition of their behavior builds loyalty, which is a solid base for any teacher.

Objectives:

1. Increase teaching time by building a strong base of well behaved students

2. Accurate attendance records will be maintained

3. School grades, achievements, and other behavioral patterns are immediately present

4. Recognize and reward good students for their grades and behavior in a unique way

How is this accomplished?

1. Each student is assigned a unique barcoded number, which is scanned by an OPTICON scanner. (Shown on this page)

2. Each behavior is identified by a unique bar code.

3. The collected data is then uploaded into a computer and the reports become available.

The STAR System has been successfully Beta tested in both California and Colorado.
